Windows can use your USB drive like RAM to increase your system's performance.

Beginning with Windows Vista, PC users are able to use their USB drives to boost the performance of their computer. This feature, called ReadyBoost, treats the free space on your USB drive like RAM, and more RAM equals more speed. ReadyBoost is included for free on all versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7. Setting it up is easy and can be done in just a few minutes.

Difficulty:
Easy

Instructions

    • 1
Insert the USB drive in your computer.
    • 2
Go to "My Computer" then right-click on the USB drive. Go to "Properties."
    • 3
Go to the "ReadyBoost" tab and select "Use This Device."
    • 4
Slide the bar to determine how much storage space will be dedicated to ReadyBoost. Windows will usually recommend a specific amount.
